The “Henge,” as we lovingly call the shop, Stone Age, had humble beginnings. We are a family owned business which started as a plant nursery on the side of the road in Blountstown, Florida called “Natures Way.” We grew and tended to our plants, but we also made the majority of our products from reclaimed driftwood and cypress knees. Our family worked hard to survive and there were many lean times. Then, we had an unusual stroke of luck! A customer of ours couldn’t pay for the plants he needed to purchase, so we decided to trade with him - plants in exchange for an Amethyst geode. How could we resist such a beauty? We couldn’t, and so the course of our journey began to change. With our new found love, we renamed our business “Stone Age.”

Many mineral and craft shows later, another opportunity arose, a Christmas craft show in the Tallahassee Mall (now called The Centre of Tallahassee). It was a hit! For many seasons we had our small booth out in the hallway until one day, we were approached by the mall manager to open a permanent location. With his encouragement and belief in our business we opened our first permanent shop in the mall.

Our first shop was very small, no more than 500 sq. ft. We made all of our display shelves, continued to make our own wood products and handmade crystal jewelry. We continued on this journey for over 20 years and, slowly, we grew by word of mouth. We moved into several locations inside the mall, finally landing in a former GAP store with 8,000 sq. ft., becoming the largest metaphysical crystal shop in the state of Florida.

Then, another unexpected event came in early June of 2018. We were told by mall officials that the entire building was being converted into State offices. We were shocked by the news, and after 5 years of being in our biggest location, we now had to find a new home. After scouring the city, a stand alone location called “Midtown Rugs” at 708 N. Monroe St. was only on the market for 3 days before we bought the 7,200 sq. ft. building.

On October 29, 2018 we started the new chapter of our lives and we haven’t looked back. We are now beginning to settle into our new forever-home and we couldn’t be happier. Our space is even more beautiful and peaceful than it ever has been. With huge glass windows that allow natural light to come in, we have luscious green plants among the crystals for the first time in many years. The energy in our store flows even easier with our new arrangement and you’ll notice yourself relax as soon as you walk in the door and smell the familiar incense.

We had no idea 20 years ago the journey we’d be on, or all of the amazing customers and staff that we’d soon call our friends. The gratitude that fills our hearts everyday is immense. We try to give back to the community by offering free spiritual and crystal classes at the shop every month. Our kind and knowledgeable staff are always willing to guide those new and experienced on their spiritual path so they may continue to better the community and themselves.
