An Orisha is a spirit that reflects one of the manifestations of God in Africa's Yoruba religion. Many Orishas have found their way throughout he Americas via the Atlantic slave trade and are now expressed in practices as varied as Santeria, Candomble, Trinidad Orisha, and Oyotunji.

 

Ellegua is a popular Orisha of the Yoruba people. He is a trickster that holds the power over luck and misfortune. He uses his power to afflict people with temptation and difficulties in order for them to mature. He is also the Orisha of the roads and the protector of traverlers. He is identified with Sain Anthony of Padua and Saint Michael.
